There are several dental appliances that are used for a variety of reasons and come in permanent or removable options. Dental appliances can help with grinding, spacing, aligning, protecting and so much more! We offer a variety of appliances to help suit your dental needs.
Some but not all the appliances we offer are:
Mouthguards/Sports guards
Hockey and other fast-paced sports can often result in trauma to the mouth/teeth and a properly fit mouthguard is your number one defense. A custom mouthpiece is the best way to ensure that your teeth, or the athlete in your life’s teeth are protected! It is quick and easy to get a mouthguard that is customized! An impression will be taken in our office, then the custom-fit mouthpiece is made right here in our office. A proper fit is crucial to getting the most protection possible for your teeth.
Nightguards
If you experience symptoms such as headaches, jaw pain/tightness, etc., you might be clenching or grinding your teeth throughout the night. This can all be happening without your knowledge while you’re sleeping! While this is often seen as relatively harmless, continued grinding can lead to damage of both your teeth and jaw. As grinding continues your tooth’s enamel may be worn down over time which can lead into the flattening of your teeth, and increased risk of chipping and sleep disruption.
To best protect your teeth and get a good night’s rest, a nightguard can help to protect and prevent damage to your teeth and jaw joint. All that is required is taking an impression/scan of your teeth, and then a custom fit nightguard can be made just for you! Ask your Dentist or dental hygienist about it at your next visit!
Snore Appliances
If you or your partner are waking up due to snoring or trouble breathing while you sleep, then a snore appliance might be what you’re looking for!
There are a number of conditions that could be causing your snoring! Some possibilities include but are not limited to irregular anatomy (such as enlarged tonsils, low soft palate or a narrow airway), allergies, being overweight or a condition such as sleep apnea. But once the cause of your snoring has been identified, a snore appliance might be the solution for you.
A snore appliance works by helping to lower your jaw forward by gently repositioning it. This helps to keep your airways open and your muscles relaxed while you sleep, lessening the cause of snoring. A consult with one of our dentists will help you determine if a snore appliance will be able to bring you a peaceful rest once more!
