What is Dysport Botox?
Dysport and Botox are both popular brands of neuromodulator treatment. It’s designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines caused by muscle activity, and it may also alleviate pain and discomfort from jaw and migraine issues.
Dental clinics are now able to offer this service to our patients and Fairhaven Dental is extremely excited to be able to make this available in Saskatoon!
Why would someone use Dysport Botox?
Dysport Botox treatments are commonly used for aesthetic and therapeutic reasons. A patient will have lessened muscle activity at the injection site and this results in a more youthful appearance for those who undergo treatment. They can also be used to decrease symptoms of both migraine and clenching or bruxing.
The Process of Dysport Botox Treatment
Fairhaven Dental has a very straight forward process in which to assist our patients with the Dysport Botox Treatments.
1 – Consultation
2 – Preparation
3 – Treatment / Injections
4 – After Care
Consultation:
Your journey begins with a consultation with one of our Dentists.
We will review your medical history and ensure that this treatment will be safe and suitable for your health.
Aesthetic and medical goals are then discussed to ensure that you are educated and comfortable with the treatment.
Using this information we will evaluate your facial anatomy to determine the appropriate injection sites.
We will also take several photographs before proceeding with the treatment and preparation. These photographs, taken from multiple angles, let us see how the treatment is progressing in certain areas so that adjustments can be made on future treatments.
Preparation:
On the day of the procedure, the dentist will mark the injection spots with a dermal marker.
The markings will wash off easily with soap and warm water.
The dental staff assisting the doctor will prepare the syringes with the Dysport botox.
Treatment / Injection:
Using a fine insulin needle, the dentist will inject small amounts of Dysport botox into the targeted areas. This injection isn’t very deep. and is injected just above the muscle.
The injections are generally painless and are done with little to no discomfort to patients.
The entire process typically takes 10-30 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.
However, your first few treatments may be a bit longer.
Post-Treatment Care:
We ask our patients to avoid strenuous activity, consuming alcohol and rubbing the area for a period of 2 to 24 hours as designated by the dentist.
It is important not to rub or massage the treated areas to prevent the toxin from spreading to unintended muscles.
Possible Side Effects
While Dysport is generally safe, some patients may experience side effects, including:
Mild Pain or Discomfort: Temporary pain at the injection site.
Bruising or Swelling: Minor bruising or swelling which usually subsides within a few days.
Headache: Some patients report mild headaches post-treatment.
